Are we all doomed?

Posted: 04/02/09

Date and time:

Wednesday 4th February 2009, 6.30pm

Venue:

Open University Building, 4 Portwall Lane, Bristol BS1 6ND

Description:

In these unprecedented times, with constant media coverage of economic misery, household names going into administration and that omnipresent downward arrow on the BBC news, it is difficult not to feel gloomy and uncertain. And yet, most people are still working and some businesses are thriving.  So how bad will the recession get and to what extent will it affect business psychologists? Are we top of the list of discretionary spending and the first thing to be cut or can we make ourselves indispensable in a crisis?

This is an opportunity to explore these questions with other business psychologists in a structured ‘scenario planning’ session, facilitated by George Karseras and Caroline Gourlay.

At the session you will have the chance to:

  * Learn about the scenario planning technique
  * Use this technique to inform your strategies for 09, whichever area of business psychology you work in.

Alternatively, if things have already got really bad, see it as a free night out with a buffet and a glass of wine. Bring a doggy bag!

We look forward to seeing you at this event.

Agenda

6.30pm – buffet

6.45 – 9pm – Facilitated discussion

Please let Richard Taylor know if you will be attending by Wed 28th Jan.
