Description:
Business Psychology has been delivering benefits for clients and enhancing organisational effectiveness with varying degrees of success. However, it has by no means reached its full potential. Is it too independent of HR? Are outcomes restricted because of a lack of client understanding?
This session will explore the relationship between HR and Business Psychology and highlight how they should collaborate but are often separate camps. Jon and Andrew will pull out examples of where the collaboration has improved business performance through innovation and thinking beyond the traditional boundaries.
They will use real life case studies and the session will prove to be a highly interactive and have a thought-provoking outcome.
Jon Allen has held a variety of HR roles, most recently at Royal Mail where he has been Group Head of Employee Relations and has HR generalist experience.
He has also been a paid union official including Deputy General Secretary of the TSSA. He therefore has considerable employee and industrial relations experience in challenging environments. His current role at Royal Mail involves designing and implementing a new and innovative approach to outplacement.
Andrew is a Chartered Counselling & Chartered Occupational Psychologist. He heads up a large employee assistance programme (http://www.atoshealthcare.co.uk) which delivers training, counselling and coaching products to increase the psychological health of individuals and organisations. He has been instrumental in the introduction of early intervention programmes in a number of large organisations relating to employee engagement and employee wellbeing. His latest book is called ‘Employee Wellbeing Support; A workplace Resource’ which he has co-edited with Professor Cary Cooper and Rick Hughes and was published by John Wiley & Sons in March 2008. He has also co-written with Rick Hughes ‘Guidelines for counselling in the workplace’ which is published by BACP and available free via http://www.counsellingatwork.org.uk
The presentation will last approximately 45 minutes and will be followed by a question and answer session.
We look forward to welcoming you to this event.
