ABP at the SGCP Conference, December 2012
By Sanjay Bhogaita, Conference Team Member
On an icy December morning me and Angie (ingham) met at New Street station and had a nice walk to the Aston University where the Special Group in Coaching Psychology (SGCP) Conference was being hosted. Slightly nervous and not knowing what to expect (it was the first conference I had ever been to) I was lucky that Angie was there to show me the ropes!
I found that the programme over the two-day were extremely engaging; I really enjoyed the workshops and sessions that had a high level of delegate involvement. Not knowing much about Coaching and its applications this was a steep learning curve for me!
We had a range of people express interest in speaking at the Annual ABP Conference about “Doing more with less”, predominantly with a view to speak from their own experiences as working practitioners in the industry.
With the DOP Conference around the corner the SGCP was great way to understand more about conferences and how the ABP “fitted-in” with various Associations and BPS Divisions. The experience was extremely rewarding, it allowed me to immerse myself in a community of academics and practitioners and I look forward to doing it again!
