Routes to Diversity and Inclusion for Early Talent
Speaker: Phil Wilson Civil Service Fast Stream and Early Talent, Cabinet Office
The session provides an overview of how the Civil Service has sought to deliver a diversity and inclusion strategy in the early talent space that aims to maximise attraction, representation and inclusion.
Approaches include the use of targeted attraction, cultural bias review, diversity internships, apprenticeships, new selection design, diversity research, inclusion diagnostics, listening circles and mental health support. Learning points are shared and future interventions and research expanded.
Phil Wilson is the Chief Psychologist and Chief Assessor of the Civil Service Fast Stream and Early Talent Team – focusing on the design, diversity and evaluation of the Fast Stream graduate assessment process along with the an apprenticeship scheme. He also oversees the multi-award winning Summer Diversity Internship Programme, Early Diversity Internship Programme, Autism Internship Programme and Intern Coaching Programme and other positive action and outreach activities. Prior to this role he was Head of Occupational Psychology at the London Fire Brigade, as well as Acting Head of Occupational Psychology for Greater Manchester Police and has operated as a consultant for a range of industries. He has presented at numerous professional conferences, undertaken a variety of media activities, sits on a number of advisory boards and chaired national work psychology committees.
It is expected that the presentation will last 50 minutes followed by approximately 30 minutes of Q&A and networking will as usual be encouraged at this event.
