Every organisation, small business and freelancer relies upon sales to survive which is why at SalesPsych we believe everyone is a direct or indirect salesperson. But, let’s face it, selling can be hard even at the best of times let alone within the challenging and dynamic environment we currently find ourselves in. Salespeople face constant pressure to bring in revenue and meet business targets whilst coping with buyer rejection, anxiety and stress on a regular basis and this can lead to burnout. Salespeople who experience stress on a regular basis tend to be less engaged in their tasks, don’t perform as well and are more likely to quit due to lower levels of work and life satisfaction’ (Ingram et al., 2011).
Scientific studies by Martin Seligman (1991) revealed optimistic salespeople sell 88% more than their less optimistic peers, with a growing body of research to support the impact of positive psychology on sales growth. A longitudinal study has revealed the developable nature of psychological capital (Hope, Efficacy, Resilience and Optimism) relates to positive increases in both individual performance ratings and individual sales revenue (Peterson et al., 2011).
What the course is about
This course is one of four workshops (Hope, Efficacy, Resilience and Optimism) offered by SalesPsych Ltd in our ‘Developing PsyCap in Sales’ series. Each 60 minute workshop blends theory with interactive activities tailored around the sales process to embed learnings and facilitate higher wellbeing and performance across your sales efforts. The resilience workshop specifically focuses on helping people understand what contributes towards resilience, the 5 most common thinking traps we fall into (and how to avoid them) and more importantly how to build real-time resilience when selling.
This course is run by Huma Khan, Founder of SalesPsych Ltd which specialises in using positive psychology and sales expertise to build the psychological and functional strengths people need to thrive in sales. Huma’s background includes 20 years of commercial leadership experience during which she worked for blue-chip organisations such as Danone, Birds Eye and Nectar Loyalty as well as the global charity World Wildlife Fund before starting her own business SalesPsych Ltd, in 2018.
