Culture Shift: using Business Psychology to underpin Strategy Delivery

Session outline

Organisational culture is too often still regarded as an add-on, a one-off moment of focus, or a distraction from the real day to day business. All too often it is given temporary emphasis, before behaviour of staff returns to type and to comfort zones.  This can have disastrous consequences as organisations must change in response to their ambient environment.

This presentation will look at how to incorporate culture shifts into strategy, how to introduce the vision and then the micro steps needed to implement it. Using her extensive experience, Kirsty Bashforth will outline how to recognise the culture you have today, explore the culture you need and how to communicate those expectations.  Culture Shift is about how to do things differently using your own resources, and how to put culture permanently at the core of running the business.

Kirsty Bashforth is CEO of QuayFive Ltd, ABP awards judge, and Author of “Culture Shift – a Practical Guide to Managing Organisational Culture”.   She advises CEOs on change, organisational culture and leadership, with clients across energy, utilities, health, education and financial services sectors both in the FTSE 100 and globally. Previously, she was Group Head of Organisational Effectiveness with BP, designing and delivering the shift in the company’s organisational culture for five years from 2010, building on 20 years of commercial leadership roles in the company around the world.

We should like to thank the University of Westminster for once again hosting this event.
