Using Coaching to Identify Best Practice in Resilience

Increasing use of evidence-based practice is having the effect of bringing a more professional approach to Coaching. However, an even greater shift in approach is being evidenced by resilience training and the need to be more proactive in promoting wellbeing in the workplace.
An increasingly challenging working environment along with squeezed budgets requires a more targeted approach to specific workplace problems. The assumption that employees can “muddle through” when the going gets tough no longer applies because all organisations are subject to rapid change in their operating environments putting unprecedented pressure on all levels of the organisation. No one is exempt from this.
Individuals and organisations need to build resilience, addressing an exponential rise in mental health problems and related workplace issues such as absenteeism. And intervention needs to demonstrate impact in a shorter timeframe and at reduced costs. Using examples, this session will review how to drive resilience by developing a growth mindset using practical examples .
Manchester based, Jodi O’Dell is the founder and driving force behind the Engage product set. Her passion lies in understanding what enables successful development. She has over twenty years international consulting experience. Jodi is an occupational psychologist and has a PhD in Coaching Psychology. She has been researching and developing the Engage toolset since 2006.
Engage is a powerful self-awareness tool, based on years of empirical research, which measures mindset and identifies a person’s readiness for change. It highlights the key drivers and barriers to success and offers practical guidance, measuring measures self-perception rather than aptitude or capability. It offers a scientific insight into mindset and a number of key psychological constructs, including resilience, motivation and commitment.
How Engage differs
Unlike many other tools which measure behaviours, Engage differs in that it measures things which underpin behaviours, rather than the behaviours themselves, facilitating a deeper insight into mindset and allows the non-psychologist to work safely with psychological constructs. Engage offers benchmark data and provides guidance on the development solutions.
It is expected that the presentation will last 50 minutes followed by approximately 30 minutes of Q&A and networking will as usual be encouraged at this event.
