How can we be more inclusive at work and build better relationships?
The topic of inclusion has never been more important, especially in this interconnected, diverse, global landscape we find ourselves in. We all need to work, engage, and collaborate effectively with people who are different to us. However, inclusion is nothing new, as our ability to form connections with others has been the cornerstone of how humanity has overcome many challenges. The inability to form these connections has also been our downfall.
Arguably with the enhancements in technology has had both a significantly positive and negative impact in our ability to engage and include others. It is easier to both humanise and dehumanise others, therefore creating issues both in society and at work.
Cultural capability is the capacity to work effectively with anyone regardless of their perspective, culture, personality, religion, disability or background. These behaviours can be developed but there is a need for the individual to gain insight about how our unconscious biases manifest themselves and more importantly what behaviours we can demonstrate to overcome them.
This session will focus on the topic of diversity and inclusion, how unconscious biases impacts all of us and how we can develop behaviours that can enable us to work effectively together.
During the session attendees will learn about the following:
• A look at the differentiation between diversity and inclusion
• The importance of inclusion and the research evidence showing that it has business benefits including increased profitability, productivity, and innovation.
• Attendees will learn about the six core inclusive behaviours, why they are important and some strategies around how they can be developed
• Attendees will have the opportunity to sign up to complete the questionnaire themselves and receive a complementary developmental report
Please note that the university has asked that we comply with their requirements. These are not too onerous but need to be observed.
