Recruitment and Talent Management, Science or Art?
May 17 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pmFree – £18.00
Speaker: Julie Towers, Managing Director of Penna PLC, and Ann Hartley, Head of Assessment
Has Business Psychology an important role in the process?
It can be argued that technology has developed to the extent that any further incremental advances will add little additional value to the recruitment and selection process: VR and AR are tools at our fingertips and we can conduct online interviews in a fraction of the time it used to take to conduct face to face interviews.
How useful, however, has this progress been in selecting the most appropriate candidates? The information now at our fingertips may be accurate but do we use it ethically and to the best effect? Do we suffer from information overload, and do we take a heuristic approach and unwittingly introduce unconscious bias into decisions? Is it quite simply that selection and talent management is still and will always be dominated by an element of the art which it always had, and if so is the reality that the role for Business Psychologists is evolving?
Julie Towers, as Managing Director of Recruitment Solutions at Penna PLC, is at the forefront of specifying and applying these powerful tools at our disposal. She will provide her view of current best practice in the use of technology in recruitment and staff management, and give us some indicators of how at a human level we can add value to our use of technology.
Ann Hartley, head of Assessment at Penna PLC, has over 25 years’ assessment experience working across the public and private sectors. She has designed and delivered selection and development programmes from graduate entrant to CEO positions. She has contributed to the development of a range of leadership diagnostic tools and tests and has substantial experience of organisational and talent management programmes.

It is expected that the presentation will last 45 minutes followed by approximately 30 minutes of Q&A and networking will as usual be encouraged at this event.
