Working with Motivation & Emotion
12 November 2019 at 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
An introduction to Reversal Theory and the Apter Toolkit
The business context is increasingly changing and unpredictable, presenting new and complex
challenges that require people and their leaders to become more adaptable and resilient.
Reversal Theory (e.g. Apter, 2001) is a general theory that links motivation and emotion as
dynamic, changeable aspects of human experience, explaining paradoxical behaviour and
opening up new opportunities for performance and wellbeing.
What the course is about
This webinar will provide an understanding of the core concepts in Reversal Theory, focusing on
motivational styles and their relationship with emotions and giving insights into its potential as a
broad, integrative diagnostic framework with applications coaching, leadership, team dynamics,
organisational development, climate and change. Finally, participants will find out where to
access additional reading and resources, including further training.
It is run by Rob Robson, founder and director of 8Connect Consulting, who has used Reversal
