The UK’s Ministry of Defence (MoD) is experienced in addressing all sorts of challenges. When facing a new enemy, in the form of cyber security risk, they acted fast to find innovative and sustainable solutions.
They chose to apply Business Psychology to grow their capabilities in cyber defence: to identify in-service personnel who had the latent potential to perform well in Cyber roles and the motivation to continue in those roles. This allowed the MoD to target, and get a greater return, on their investment in training their cyber defence teams.
As this case concerns National Security, we cannot share all the details. It nevertheless demonstrates the value of psychology applied to tough talent challenges.
