Book Club: Tuning Into Smarter Judgement: From Blind Spots to Deaf Spots

May 10 at 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Free – £18.00

Speaker: Nuala Walsh, Non-executive director, Behavioural scientist, visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, and author.

Summary:  Do you always know who or what to trust?  What are you not hearing? Your decisions matter but in today’s noisy, high-speed world, leaders hear less than ever and rush to misjudgement. The result? Missed signals and a catalogue of error that not only destroys lives and polarizes groups but damages reputation and squanders opportunity. When we tune out the right voices, we lose out rather than stand out. Nuala Walsh reveals the real reason behind these judgment killers – decision ‘deaf spots,’ a hidden source of misinformation and misjudgement. She argues that despite popular opinion, the most underestimated risk isn’t economic, political or even climate risk – it’s human decision risk – and the failure to hear what really matters. She shows how we can respond to the threat of unheard voices and tone-deaf leadership. Now we can do better and hear what others don’t by mastering smarter judgement when it matters most.
