ABP Awards Finalist Case Study: Advances in Reducing Algorithmic Bias in Hiring

August 6 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Speaker: Tom Cornell, Senior Organisational Psychology Consultant, HireVue

Summary:

HireVue undertook pioneering research to develop and implement a new approach to reducing bias in pre-employment testing, focusing on AI-scored interviews. Multipenalty optimization is a new technique that is demonstrated to be more effective than current methods at mitigating bias whilst maintaining assessment accuracy, producing both a fairer and more predictive assessment. This approach was incorporated into HireVue assessment models in August 2021 and has positively contributed to customers such as The Co-operative Bank achieving their DE&I goals. The approach has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and has been open-sourced, advancing standards in mitigating bias across the entire industry.

The webinar will provide a background around algorithmic bias and application of AI in assessments, before discussing the new approach to bias mitigation and its application within a specific customer content.
