Removing the Bias – Towards an Inclusive Psychometric

As we emerge from lockdown, the need to make organisational decisions in an inclusive and fair way is paramount. Critical to this in selection and development, is the use of psychometrics that are themselves inherently inclusive, and importantly support the removal of any bias, rather than amplifying it.
This session will be highly interactive and engage the group in dialogue & polls to highlight best practice and makes the application of business psychology to reduce bias crystal clear.
The role of system one and system two thinking in forming biases will be explored, as will the heuristics at work during the process of profiling by practitioners. This session will explore how biases due to labelling and overdone reification can result in a psychometric suffering from evaluative bias that negatively impacts user validity.
Dr. Stewart Desson needs little introduction now. He is the CEO of Lumina Learning, an international selection and development company which effectively uses leading-edge technology for profiling, as well as being a Board Member with the ABP. He has trained over 1000 consultants in the effective use of psychometrics and focuses on diversity and the reduction of bias. He is a highly experienced consultant and public speaker. His PhD in Business Psychology identified how to reduce evaluative bias when creating psychometrics.
