Sejal Raja and Safwan Afridi will be running an employment law focussed workshop. Specifically, they will be covering the employment status considerations that individuals need to have when providing services as an independent contractor on their own account or via a limited company. The second half of the workshop will focus on what employers should and should not do when hiring an employee.
The workshop is specifically for individuals that provide services as a self-employed contractor and/or individuals that are looking to employee an individual for the first time.

Sejal is an employment law expert with over 20 years’ experience advising employees and employers on all aspects of employment law. She frequently runs workshops and training sessions for her clients and is highly ranked in all legal publications. Her extensive experience of acting for both individuals and organisations uniquely places her in a position where she can provide valuable advice on the full spectrum of employment issues.
Safwan Afridi is a solicitor in the employment department at RadcliffesLeBrasseur LLP. He also advises individuals and organisations on all aspects of employment law. He acts for clients in number of different sectors and is regularly conducting litigation in the employment tribunal and civil courts. He also advises on non-contentious employment law issues on a daily basis.
This workshop will be suitable for individuals that carry out work as a self-employed contractor and want to take steps to ensure that their employment status does not leave them vulnerable to IR35 regulations or other tax liabilities. It will also be ideal for any individuals that run a small company or partnership and are looking to employ their first employee and or have recently done so. There will be a specific focus on the recruitment process and the steps to follow once the individual becomes an employee.
We would encourage delegates to send in any specific questions that they may have for our experts in advance of the workshop so that these queries can be covered by Sejal and Safwan.
